How to Purchase

Determine HP and Duty Level Requirements

Contact us through the CONTACT page to discuss your design requirements, timeframe and pricing.  Remember to include Year, Model, Engine, any injector modifications, tire size and axle ratio (if known), 2wd/4wd and vehicle usage details when you first reach out to get our conversation going.  We try to keep more popular configurations of units in stock, but availability varies.

Our Location

We split time between Southeastern PA and Northern DE, and are available by appointment almost anytime.  We do not ship, and probably never will, so all sales are conducted in our area, with rare exceptions.

Removal and Installation

We do not remove or install transmissions at this time.  Therefore, our transaction model is a straight-up swap.  Be VERY careful when removing your transmission!  They are much heavier than they look, and 4wd models tend to roll off jacks.  If you are a driveway guy, use multiple floorjacks and straps to keep it from dropping.  If it hits the ground, it will most certainly crack and will unfortunately not be acceptable as a core.

Transmission Core Swap

Your transmission core must be a rebuildable "like" core.  That means, no broken, cracked or weld-repaired cases, damaged/missing extension housings, etc.  Everything you bring us must be rebuildable, and it must have come from behind the same engine we are providing a rebuilt unit for (we will not give you a diesel unit in exchange for a gasoline core).  Cores are required at time of sale as we do not offer loans.

Final inspection will occur in person.  To get a good headstart preparing your core for the exchange, use this video for guidance.

Preparing Your Core Video

While most customers install their new units within a few days of purchase, we know that some project trucks can take a bit longer.  For the new units that might wind up sitting a while before install, we can wrap them in plastic wrap to help keep foreign matter and moisture out of them.  ATF absorbs moisture, so it is very important to keep moisture out of the transmission!

Torque Converter Core Swap

Your TC core must be a rebuildable "like" core.  That means, no broken internals or exterior damage.  Because of the nature of the TC, any broken internals (such as thrust bearings or turbine hub rivets) will most likely have destroyed the entire inner workings once they come loose and rattle around inside.

There will be a charge for a non-rebuildable core.  If your converter sounds like it has marbles inside, it is now a boat anchor and you will be charged for the non-rebuildable core.  The TC core must have come from behind the same engine we are providing a rebuilt unit for, unless we have already discussed a highly customized torque converter for your application.

Pricing for broken/damaged/missing parts

Our goal is not to "get rich" charging customers for bad cores, in fact, we hate doing it as it jeopardizes business readiness.  We would much rather you find a good core on your own to bring us.  But in the event your core is missing expected parts, or certain parts are found to be broken and/or non-rebuildable upon inspection, or if you simply just need to buy some parts with your new transmission, the following prices will be charged:

Diesel Case non-PTO (cracked, broken, repaired or damaged in any way).                               $900

Gasoline Case non-PTO (cracked, broken, repaired or damaged in any way).                           $300

Broken PTO cases will not be accepted for any amount of money.                                             $----

If there appears to be too many oversized bolts in the case, I will probably refuse the core altogether.

Torque Converter (loose parts inside, inoperable turbine hub, non-rebuildable).                         $200

Pump.  Extension housing.                                                                                                           $200

Center, output, or Input shaft.  Bypass tube.                                                                                $100

Lower dipstick tube.  Shift bracket.  Banjo bolts.                                                                          $40

Keep in mind that none of this should be a surprise when we meet, and that the time to discover these added costs should be during early discussions, not when we meet for the sale.  Be honest about the condition of your core, it will save a lot of time and hassle.
